    Fantastic food and service! My super cute red-haired waitress didn't hesitate to accommodate my dietary preferences. She recommended the tofu scramble with rye toast. I asked for a side of avocado...because well...I'm eating at a joint with the word avocado in the name. In fact, I think all their dishes should include a slice of avocado on the side. But I digress... My meal was hearty, delicious, vegan, and cheap! Can't beat that combo! They had a multitude of vegetarian/vegan items that I was dying to try. If I lived in Daytona, I'd be hitting this place up 3 or 4 times a week. Highly, highly recommend this place to both meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans.

    In a sea of fried food eateries, we were seeking a green and fresh lunch to follow up our morning of paddle boarding. Boy did this place deliver. We had fresh juices and salads, not to mention the most delicious sweet plantains. The staff was fast and efficient. We will be back!

    I love this place! Wish I lived closer so I could eat there more often. Everyone in our family of five -- only one of whom is a vegetarian -- had a great lunch this weekend. The biggest carnivore in the group said it was the best Reuben he ever had. And who knew that a good old cheese sandwich could be so tasty? The quality of the food can't be beat, even at a pricey, fancy place. My only complaint is that they are six days a week, brunch and lunch place.

    Just had the interesting experience of dining at the Dancing Avocado. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they offered vegan dishes...perhaps not so much for the 4.5 tennis playing men whom I dined with and had just played some serious tennis however lets call it like it is...they were hungry and I sad-puppied my face...I won. Famished we were...so in we went. One of us had the egg breakfast which was the exact price as his fresh squeezed apple juice...a little bit of sticker shock on the juice, If ordering the eggs the toast comes dry and if you ask for butter they do have it....so say no to the edible oil products that we were served. One of us had the fish taco's (which the waitress had mistaken the fish in it for "Maui" instead of Mahi...oopsy). While on the topic of our young waitress.....nothing should explain her inability to use proper manners twice when she need one of us to repeat ourselves and instead of using the appropriate "pardon me" she used "huh?"....I mean really...reduced to a guttural sound is little better than full on ebonics. A personal pet peeve but none the less worth a mention in the fight to save proper manners. The third person had the chicken special which they did warn would be spicy when we asked, however we were not prepared for the inferno to come. The waitress also informed us that she had never tried it, which was honest but unhelpful. The eggs were eggs...nothing to write home about. The best thing at our table was the fish tacos. They said they would come with salmon but the Mahi was just fine. The soft taco portion of the meal is toasted so is hard and crunchy (I prefer them soft) but still good. The owner came to do a table check. A strangely interesting man who was genuine in his efforts to make us happy. When we voiced our concerns he listened and then brought it to the attention to some staff who did not have anything to do with us. I felt slightly put on the spot and feel, if you want to train your staff you need to do it on your time and not throw customers under the bus. His pleasant demeanor did make up for all...not to mention the banana bread and macaroons he kindly gave to us to take home. If you find yourself in Daytona The Dancing Avocado is worth a try.

    I'm giving DAK an optimistic 4 stars. I love the idea of the restaurant, and their decor is fantastic! Lots of trinkets everywhere, lots of collectible items and many things you can take home. My boyfriend ate the Chicken Curry sandwich with potatoes, and it was super, super tasty. Light but very filling. I ate the avocado sandwich. The restaurant is called The Dancing Avocado Kitchen, so I figured this would be a signature item. It was just okay. I'd skip this sandwich and try something else. Each meal can come with one side and a surprise from the kitchen! A great idea, and not disappointing. I received a tomato cucumber salad and my boyfriend an Asian slaw. I would come back, but skip the avocado sandwich and try something else!

    Where carnivores (me) and herbivores can eat together. This is a fun place to go to with visiting relatives and friends. The atmosphere is fun and whimsical. The food is OK but not the best in the area for the price. The difference is if you have a someone who is Vegan, Lacto Vegetarian, Ovo Vegetarian, Lacto-ovo vegetarian, Pollotarians, Pescetarian, Flexitarian, Glutten free or Paleo (yes these are all types of restrictions) They will LOVE this place.

    Definitely a "must try". Owner deserves five stars for concept and execution. Atmosphere is fun and service excellent. Ordered the chicken cacciatore special and a tutti frutti iced tea. The cacciatore appeared to be a labor of love; lots of herbs, vegetables and tender chicken. Way too much hot pepper, which of course overwhelmed everything else. In their defense they did write " Hot "on the specials menu. Looking forward to trying other menu items next time.

    Service: From the moment we stepped in the (well decoated) door, we were warmly welcomed and seated by Ashley. She was patient with us and knowledgeable about the many delicious foods and unique options on the menu. Food: Delicious and amazing. I could go into detail about what we had, but the food is well prepared and local and everything is amazingly well done. The dishes are well thought out and have skilled flavor combinations. Highly recommended and the plantains and the avocado dancer sandwich. The ingredients were all freshly made and skillfully prepared. Tables were set with peppercorn grinders and sea salt. Everything that came with our meals, even down the the garnish, was prepared perfectly and edible. Atmosphere: The armosphere of the place speaks to the quality of the ingredients used in their dishes. Healthy choices are everywhere, and they even sell local honey, sauces and spices. The bathrooms don't have your normal bath soap, but natural organic hand scrubs which could easily cost $40. Everything about Dancing Avacado Kitchen speaks to outstanding quality. The staff is very warm and friendly, willing to answer questions on the menu or briefly chat. This is a truly great and unique place and we'll worth the trip.

    Best place in Daytona to eat for fresh healthy food! This place has it all! Fabulous food, great decor and atmosphere and Incredible, friendly wait staff! We eat here regularly. We want to to take a second and commend Ashley our waitress and Andrew the chef for always going above and beyond to please their customers. Ashley is always friendly and attentive whenever we are lucky enough to get her. Andrew whipped us up some yummy food that we always enjoy! Mario the owner came out to talk to us and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversation! There is not a more passionate restaurant owner than him!     This is quite an eclectic place. But interesting. We went for lunch and we're greeted at the door and told we could choose a seat. We were promptly asked our drink order and the waiter answered our many questions. I had fresh pressed apple juice, it's expensive but oh so delicious. I loved it! I also had the dancing avocado sandwich. It was delicious! I am a meat eater so it was a bit odd to not have meat with my meal but that sandwich was quite delicious. My friend had a harder time choosing a meal as he's not quite as adventurous of an eater as I am and prefers to have meat, but luckily they had a special turkey sandwich which he enjoyed. Their menu also has a burger on it for the red meat eaters out there. I really liked this place, I gave it a 3 though because the sides weren't as yummy.

    While visiting on vacation I headed over to this place. The reviews seemed really good, but I was a bit disappointed. The food was a bit lacking in flavor, and quite a bit overpriced for the quantity. I had a burger (plain with only lettuce, tomatoes, onion) was $10, and to add on cheese or other things was another $1 or $2 depending on what you add. So here I am, starving tourist, ordering a $12 buger, which when served was an alright size I guess, but the flavor is seriously lacking. It was lacking salt, so I added some, but that did not remedy the lack of flavor in the first place. And yes, I know I ordered a regular burger from a vegetarian/vegan place, so I get points docked for that, but if they are offering it on the menu it should still taste good. In the Dancing Avacado's defense, my husband ordered a garden burger (vegetarian) and it was much tastier than my regular burger. Buyer Beware! lol

    This place is a 4 or 5 star place for people who are vegetarian or vegan (I'm anything but those). The food is made fresh and they don't shy away from giving you enough food. This place is a mouthgasm for sure.

    really cool vibe here. heart chakra strengthened x1000. I ate good food. I ate great food. Largely a vegan menu but wholly delicious. I had some chicken quesadilla and it was rather delightful. I definitely feel the chicken was organic and it had lived a very good life according to my taste buds. Non of that farmed chicken fodder - the chicken I ate loved a life of luxury.

    After countless trips to this area I finally tried this restaurant. Their juice was wonderful. They put in it just the veggies I wanted and I loved it. 5-stars for that. I got their popular kale salad with quinoa. It was good, but didn't seem substantial enough to consider a whole lunch. The rest of their menu seemed not that in tune with my food aesthetic, but to be fair I will try them again and get something else.

    Have long liked this place, but the menu seems to feature fewer items these days. Missing the black bean burrito. Reuben was good but didn't have to be that greasy. Hub's "green eggs and ham scramble" was similarly good but on the greasy side. Just seemed a little lower in overall quality than in previous visits. The country music blaring out of tinny speakers didn't help. Is this what's become of the 60s counter culture?

    What a charming little place! 'Charming' is not a word I often use to describe places in Daytona Beach (which is full of strip clubs, gun stores and rednecks) but there are a few gems there and the Dancing Avocado definitely qualifies. The menu is pretty vegetarian heavy but there are meat options too. I highly recommend the dancer sandwich (avocado, lentils and three kinds of cheeses ). They also have yummy smoothies and creative lemonades. In the restaurant, they have an eclectic little market area which sells a random assortment of hot sauces, honeys, and cute little rubber ducks!

    Fabulous! Ate outside. Had a wonderful avocado with cheese sandwich. Bread had been freshly made. The sandwich had fresh ingredients . I very pleased the gave me plenty of avocados slices. The juices were also fresh. . Waitress. Awesome !! Thank u!!

    Extremely vegan friendly, a rarity in this part of Florida. Great atmosphere, cheerful and helpful staff, and the food is as tasty as it gets! Ask about the vegan sides of the day.

    What makes a veggie-lovers heart happier than a Dancing Avocado? Right? We had to check this place out. I had eaten here before many years ago and I remember liking it- and now I remember why. This place is vegetarian and vegan friendly. Tons of healthy choices on the menu. No worries if you like meat- the Dancing Avocado Kitchen caters to both. We started with the Tirosalta appetizer- a whipped feta cheese dip with pita bread. It was creamy, tangy and delicious. We needed more of the dip to finish off the pita bread though. I always hate when there is not enough dip and too much bread. There are plenty of options for the Vegan/ Vegetarian. Chad ordered the Mac Falafel- crispy chickpea cakes with lettuce, tomato, onion and hummus served in a warm tortilla. He was quite happy with this after spending some time debating between the falafel or the black bean burger. His falafel wrap came with potato taters. Oh boy these were good. They were crispy and seasoned well. I opted to have the V BLT which was rather interesting- a Vegan Bacon Lettuce and Tomato sandwich with avocado. Though not my most favorite sandwich ever it was pretty tasty. The "bacon" was actually made out of eggplant and made right there on the premises. Though it tasted nothing like bacon (and I don't think it was intended too) I really enjoyed the smoky flavor. It was almost sort of candy-like and a little chewy. Smoky candy if you can imagine. My sandwich came with a cup of soup which they gladly substituted with their cucumber salad instead. Cucumbers were right up my alley on a hot summer day at the beach. Ah...... Just on a side note, I also had the Iced Tea of the Day which was a Tutti Frutti Herb the day I was there. Totally tasty. Next time I am going to try something from the juice bar. There is a lot to look at while you wait for your food. Check out the collection of rubber ducks. Read all the silly signs on the wall. Admire the colorful scenery. Word about town is that they have also just added some new items to the menu so if you haven't been here in a while it may be worth a return visit.

    This spot has very good food. The fiancé and I are both vegan and have tried several different menu items over our many trips to this fine establishment. The majority of her family reside in the area and coming here from Tulsa which, BION, has loads more vegan options than Ormand/DAB, I was worried about finding any options for dining out. Fortunately, this joint has several options of differing styles of food, falafel, veggie burger, soups, salads, etc., all of which are stellar selections. Should one find oneself in the area and find the need for awesome vegan food, eat here. You shan't be disappointed.

    This place is solid- it is friendly with a cool vibe. Anyone will feel comfortable here. They didn't have Equal, but it's ok because it's bad for you anyway! Their tea selection is ok. The Avacado wrap was delicious- couldn't finish it because of the potatoes in it. The service was attentive. Easy parking and nice outdoor eating area

    I've never had a bad experience at DAK. I grew up in Daytona and now live in New York City- and having turned into a bit of a food snob, it's nice to have a place at home I still enjoy... (Especially brunch!) Cheap prices, delicious food, vegan and vegetarian options, and a fun, eclectic vibe. My kind of place. This time I ordered an avocado egg breakfast sandwich with hummus and sprouts. It came paired with delicious potatoes and a nice slice of pineapple to top it off. My friend ordered the breakfast wrap/burrito. Both of us left full and happy, and only spent 16$ before tip. What a steal. Service is always great. My dad and stepmom had their post-beach-wedding reception here and the servers were unbelievable for a party as late as ours. Make a point to head down to the Dancing Avocado for sure!

    Best food we had in Daytona Beach. We stayed outside and it was a really enjoyable experience. And the menu adviser/owner was a joy to talk to, sharing experiences with us that make us wish to come back to this part of Florida to enjoy not only the seaside but also other hidden gems he pointed out.     I think everyone should try this place once at least. It's great for lunch, as it has a really light vegan menu and the prices are not sky high. It's very quaint and has really cute decorating done.

    Phooey. Went once....that was more than enough. My and my wife's meals were not worth the 1st. bite. Quesadilla was absurd and awful.....Taco Bell infinitely better....and Taco Bell is no great shakes. Cutesy menu makes promises with no delivery. This place deserves to be avoided.

    Calling themselves a Vegetarian restaurant & being able to lay claim to the "only" vegetarian rest in Daytona, you'd think their menu would have more to offer. Nothing in their menu is appetizing to me or even sounds like it would be. Their black bean burger is messy & tastes like embellished cardboard. Their salads leave alot to be desired & you're still starving after scarfing the meager amt on your plate. I vist for the tofu scramble, which is the only thing on the menu that tastes decent. Then, you better make sure their normal cook is in the kitchen or no telling what will be on your plate. This morning, I got a plate full of hard, undercooked stems & tofu pieces. They gave me French fries instead of homefries...FOR BREAKFAST! Very disappointing. They are always understaffed & this morning I got no refill on my lemonade like usual. The whole experience has been repeated so often with my visits that I'm seriously considering never eating there again!

    I was very pleased with everything I tried here today. (mushroom miso soup, potato chunks and the "belly dancer" sandwich). This was my first time here, and I will be going back soon. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. If I were to have a complaint, there would be only one and I consider it minor. My soup had a chunk of nearly raw ginger in it. It was so large I noticed it right away and didn't eat it. I suppose it's the price you pay for having homemade soup.

    Love this place - great atmosphere adding to the many delicious choices in food (or juices). Being Vegan often makes certain choices in dining a matter of adjusting a meal choice down to practically nothing; however, this place is for everyone: vegan, vegetarian, meat eaters, juicers, etc!! It's interior surprises you as you walk in the front door...you feel very comfortable & welcomed. The service is outstanding along with the style of organic art along with a very modern chic feel.

    Love this place. Flew in to DB from NYC to visit some friends, came here three times in ten days. Overall / ambience: This unpretentious place beats lots of the hipstery vegan joints in NYC, hands down. The care and attention to detail that goes into the food is really impressive! I also love that vegan and non-vegan friends can dine together, and that there are great and even options for both. The interior is really colourful and filled with quirky things to look at, and seats outside are a great place to people-watch the beach street stretch. Drinks: tried a couple of fresh juices, which come in mini sizes which I liked. My favourite was the 'sweet green' - a mix of lemon, apple, and some other vegetables. Had it twice. Food: My fave was the avocado and hummus pita wrap, I think it was called the zorba dancer on the veggie menu. Really generous portion of avocado, and the pita was served warm and fresh. My boyfriend tried the mushroom burger, which he loved. As for sides, the tater tots are really good (not too greasy and light and fluffy). The pesto pasta side was delicious too. Veggie slaw, though, was a little on the oily side. Service: really friendly and helpful. No complaints here! So, yeah, loved it. Wish NYC had more unpretentious joints like this!! So nice to see all kinds of people (NOT wearing thickrimmed glasses... ha) enjoying themselves here :)

    We visited for lunch today. I really enjoyed the dancing avacado grilled sandwich. My husband had the salmon tacos and thought there wasn't much flavor, however a good amount of fish. Our boy had the single burger -which was given the thumbs up while our daughter's Multigrain waffle with strawberries was not good at all. Overall a good restaurant, however a little overpriced. ( I would give the grilled avacado sandwich 5 stars).

    The food here was really delicious, but I feel like there are a lot of things that could be better about the place, therefor I give it three stars. Pros: -Fun friendly environment -Carnivores and herbivores can both find things they'd enjoy -Creative menu options -Tasty food -super friendly staff Cons: - the menu layout was really confusing, more like a comic book than a food menu -the sides weren't listed, and we sadly had to ask our server several times what the sides were as we were trying to decide -menu items are super plain and can become very expensive if you want anything extra. Our bill ended up being much higher than expected. Overall decent dining experience, I would come again if I was with a carnivore, but other than that I would go a block up street to kale cafe if I were in the area again.

    This restaurant is a personal favorite of mine. They offer a unique menu everyday, as well as unique beverages! It's vegan and vegetarian friendly, but also great for us carnivorous types! I come to DAK every time I visit Daytona Beach and I will keep coming back!

    Perhaps the best juice bar in Daytona Beach; well, maybe the only juice bar within a restaurant in Daytona Beach. Stopped in for a quick juice that was made fresh, tasted great, and at a reasonable price. I didn't eat any of the food here, but the plates I saw that had food on them looked pleasant and pretty. I love the eclectic feel of this place-it makes so not Daytona Beach.

    LOVE this place! Visited for the first time when my friend and I were in Daytona for Spring Break. I searched all over for healthy alternatives and Dancing Avocado popped up on Yelp and since they had pretty good reviews and an interesting menu, we decided to try it out. The place is so uniquely decorated and the food does not disappoint! We left feeling stuffed and satisfied...and definitely not guilty! Next time I make it out to Daytona, I will for sure be coming back again for more!:)

    It's pretty good. They give you a good portion of avocado if your dish has it. I had the Woodstock Salad with a "Topping" of Falafel. They make their own falafel and it was nice and soft with a good texture and flavor. When my salad arrived I asked where the hummus was as they had forgotten it. Our server was going to take my salad away and put the hummus on the plate but I asked her to just bring it on the side instead of taking my food away and she did. Near the end of my meal I was wondering how to eat the hummus unless I just put it on my salad and realized they forgot my crackers, she later brought them to my when I brought it to her attention. I wasn't a fan of the hummus...either flavor. And, I LOVE hummus. The garlic hummus was a little bland and the black bean hummus had a strange tanginess to it. I wasn't sure which dressing I wanted so I asked for both, they charge you $.50 extra if you get 2 dressing which I wasn't aware of until the bill came. The salad with a topping was $12. I also had one of their juices (apple, ginger, lemon, parsley) and it was good. The 12 oz was much smaller than what I envisioned 12 oz to be and it was $5.50. It was good but I don't think it was really worth the price. I'd go back because I have a difficult time finding restaurants to accommodate dairy free and this one has gluten and dairy free fairly healthy options.

    Was visiting Daytona Beach from Dallas, TX. We ended up in the "Downtown" area of Daytona and found this little gem!! Excellent food, excellent service. They use fantastic ingredients that were very tasty, while also being good for you. The smoothies were delicious also. The menu was a little confusing. They used a lot of their own terms with no "glossary" section. But what I ended up ordering (some kind of wrap), I was VERY happy with!! We also had a celebrity sighting of John Martino from The Godfather fame! If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely be back!

    Every time I've been in here, there's always a new waitress and they're always the most annoying people on the planet. The one girl that stuck out the most would talk about how she's a vegan and a carnivore just because of this restaurant. Then go into vivid detail about all the foods she eats when she's not at work. The others weren't as bad, but still no one you'd want to hear anything other than "Can I take your order?" from. They use to have the best fries I've ever had. But not long after I found out about them, they were changed to potato chunks. Which aren't bad, but they have no comparison to the fries. I wish they'd give you the option of one or the other. A boca burger was added to the menu within the last year, which absolutely destroyed the black bean burger. That recently got replaced with a mushroom cap "burger." No thanks. Not a lot of vegan options and the few that are there aren't that great. The burrito is awful. The BLT is no thrills and almost ten bucks. Homemade bacon that's on it is burnt to a crisp and sometimes hard to eat. The earlier mentioned black bean burger is average at best. I don't really like how they have the seats set-up. Which is the majority of them being sided against the wall ridiculously close together. More of the building's fault, but none of the less. If someone is sitting behind me, it's not possible for them to get up without smashing the back of my chair. Waiting at the cash register to pay your bill is also horrible. It takes an eon just to get someone up there to take your money. An additional waiter would make it possible for them to take care of your check.

    Taste buds are still dancing, i am not vegan but i am a foodie, i travel for a living and have had the privilege of eating all over the country, all i have to say is... one of the best lunches i have ever had!!! If you are a local im sure you know about this place, if your a tourist it would be unacceptable to not try this place. Amber, our waitress, could hold classes on how to be a great server. Her knowledge about food was exceptional but her passion is what truly impressed everyone at our table.     Amazing, delicious, healthy, vegan and tons of choices all describe the DAK. I had one of the best salads I've ever eaten here, the Kale Salad with Marinated Tofu. And my husband had the Earth burger, a vegan veggie burger, that he ate in less than 5 minutes. There are plenty of meat options on the menu depending on your dietary preference. The vibe is laid back and very casual. We sat outside and had very good service. I had a great overall experience here and only regret that I couldn't come back to eat again while in Daytona (the restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday which were the other days we were in town).

    Second time around was not as great. Tried something new and it did not work out. I knew I was not going to make it by the second bite and decided to send it back. It was some sort of burritto. Just unfortunate. I had no issues, however, with sending the place back and trading for a delicious salad instead. The salad plate was retuned empty.

    The food here is good, the staff is friendly; but it's overshadowed by the fact that the chef doesn't seem willing to make even a small change to a pre-designed menu item. They have a burrito with beans, rice, guacamole and pick de gallo and "iguana veggies." We asked if they could just put those exact ingredients into a bowl, rather than wrapped in a burrito, and we were told that the chef refuses to do that. We were willing to pay the same price or more - but no deal. It's really unbelievable, in a service industry. Seems like the chef has decided that because the place has been around a long time, he can do what he wants and it's more about his ego than providing something a customer may request, even in the simplest of ways.

    This is by far my all time favorite restaurant in Florida!! The staff is super friendly and attentive. I've never had a bad meal, and the ingredients are always fresh. Whoever the chef is back there certainly knows what he's doing when it comes to flavor! The decor is super hippie and funky fun. I feel more at home here than in my own living room. I am a forever regular here.

    Yummm...my favorite part of coming back to Daytona! I went to college here and moved away 9 years ago but every time I'm back in town my first stop is D.A.K. I still remember my first experience 13 years ago when the server talked me into trying an apple-carrot juice. I thought that sounded horrible but I was hooked with the first taste. There are so few places that serve fresh squeezed juice and if they do they rarely have apple. It makes all the difference. My favorite dish here is the Iguana Quesadilla and it has been on the menu for as long as I've been coming here. I love that it's not just boring ol' bell pepper and onion like most places. The veggies vary with the season and are always delicious. This last trip was my first time back in 3 years. The manager stopped by our table and gave us a dessert that was brownie with fried plantain on top. I think I nearly died from yummy overload. Wish they would open a DAK in Los Angeles so I could eat it all the time!!! Thanks for always being as good as I remember!

    This is one of my favourite places to eat on Beach Street in Daytona. The waitstaff is consistently friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is laid back and casual, and you can (for the most part) feel pretty good about the food you are eating here. Of course I also hear that "for a vegetarian place, they've got the best burgers in Daytona", so obviously you have the choice to eat unhealthily too, if you so desire. The last meal I ate there was a crabcake sandwich with a housemade tartar sauce/remoulade that was really quite delicious; however, it was a special that day so it is probably not something that they regularly feature. Both of my companions enjoyed hamburgers with all the fixins' (and they offer quite a few) - so obviously none of us cared to try any of the healthful - or vegetarian - options on that particular visit. I have had a breakfast wrap there that was quite tasty, and their hummus platter is delightful as well. The only thing we've ever ordered that we did not particularly enjoy was a glass of fresh tomato juice to accompany our breakfast one morning. We thought it tasted, well....mostly like celery...and grass clippings, to be quite honest. It should probably be noted that if there is a special event happening down on Beach Street - any sort of festival or something like that - I believe the DAK offers a truncated version of their menu, and not all of the items that you are used to seeing will be on it. But that's probably a common practice for restaurants during events, and I imagine a few of the other places on Beach Street do the same thing. All said, this is a lovely place for a casual bite to eat if you are in the area.

    Went with my wife.she had "the dancer" she loved the avacodos.i had the beef quesadilla was a hamburger patty in a tortilla w cheese..not what i expected at all.never again

    We stopped in for lunch before heading over to the tour of the Angel & Phelps chocolate factory. Service was friendly and food was quick. The atmosphere is eclectic and dark with kitsch on the walls. There are some snacks and candies for purchase near the register almost like a coffee shop if you want to get food or smoothies to go. We ordered the potato chunks with curry dip and the fried plantains as well as the choco/banana/coffee smoothie. The potato chunks were crispy and the curry mayo was amazing. The plantains are to die for; rolled in cinnamon sugar served with caramel drizzle. We cleaned our plates and the smoothie was so huge we couldn't finish it, although it was so good we wished we could.

    My boyfriend and I went here for lunch after reading some really good reviews. Not really sure why. Our server was terrible. She either just didn't listen or didn't care. We ordered water at least 4 separate times and considering we were sitting outside in 90+ degree heat you you think it would just be a common curtesy for customers. Anyways, it took us about 15 minutes for us to order simply because our server never came to take it. We ordered the nachos which were decent, I got the earth burger, and my boyfriend got the baja plate. The earth burger was supposed to be "famous". I can only imagine famous for the terrible taste. The baja plate was decent. Just ok. It was food. Oh and by the way, we got 1 glass of water after we finished our food. This place is trying way to hard to be laid back and cool. It makes me laugh. Especially when we went to pay and there was a letter on the wall from a prior customer about how she didn't believe in leaving tips and Michael Jackson is the devil and she has bad luck now. Just stupid. In short the food is food. Not good food. Just food. It's very pricey and the place just tries too hard. I'm giving this place two stars because they have good fresh squeezed juice and the nachos are ok.

    An absolutely amazing place. The wait staff is very courteous, the vast selection on the menu provides something for everyone and the pricing is very fair. There is a large selection of fresh juices, specialty drinks and teas. I've been several times, and I continually find myself wanting to go back. This is definitely a must go!

    I have tried the Dancing Avocado a couple of other times, in the past few years. Once for breakfast, over 10 years ago, and a to-go salad for lunch. Nothing that stood out that much. We tried them for lunch today, and despite the many iffy reviews, I thought they were quite good. I ordered the base salad that came with a Mediterranean pasta salad. The greens were fresh and crisp. The pasta salad was good, nothing spectacular. The balsamic dressing was very good. It was thick and reminded me of a catalina dressing. My husband had the Rachel with the soup of the day, which was chili. He enjoyed both. We also ordered the raspberry tea, which was delicious. It has chunks of raspberries in it. I definitely recommend trying them, if you are in the area.

    Dancing Avocado is a health-food, vegetarian, café just off the western side of the Halifax River (riverside that is, not beach-side) in Daytona Beach. They do have some non-vegetarian dishes, but their real emphasis is on vegetarian. I am not vegan or vegetarian myself but have enjoyed every meal I've ever had here and feel the quality and freshness of their food is superb. Their soups are especially good as are the sandwiches. While the restaurant is nothing fancy, it's a fun place and the staff are bright and friendly so it's a welcoming experience. Also, most of the food has a Tex-Mex/Southwestern influence, just so you'll know. Once again, it's on the western, river-side, of Daytona . . . not by the beach. I know it's on a street called "Beach Street", but it's not on the beach anyways. Don't go over to A1A and look for it, 'cause it's not there!

    Awe diddly and then some!!! There's only so much french fries and mac and cheese that a growing adolescent vegetarian can take and knowing this I had read up on this place on Yelp before a weekend trip to Daytona. We made it here late in the morning for more of a brunch than anything. It has a bit of a Key West/Tiki vibe going when you walk in, with two raised decks on either side of the front door, some mismatched bright coloured chairs and lots of "lookage" stuff. You know, photos, pictures, old signs, "things" hanging here and there. Enough to keep you interested while the person with you "blah blah blahed" away to their hearts content while you throw out the requisite "uh hun" and head nods. No, that wasn't my company...that was the party sitting beside us...one who obviously loved listening to herself, the other one who was probably making "nom non nom" noises inside her head because really, the food is GREAT here. I'm with two hot dates, two super cool guys who are very hard to please and I'm hoping that this joint is going to come up to their standards. We sit wherever we like as the waitress suggested, choosing a table by the front door so we could peek out onto the street and see the whole way back through the store. She's a little distracted or grumpy at first this waitress of ours, but after the coffee was delivered her demeanor changed, or was it ours, because of the coffee and all that. Nice coffee by the way. Much nicer than the swill they serve up at the "fancy" hotel we stayed in along the beach. And served in BIG mugs...with refills. Order in, order up. Fricking HUGE fluffy giant buttermilk Belgium waffles!!! And OMG delicious. I don't think anything will ever compare. Soft, pillowy, buttery and a big ole jug of syrup to go with them. Huge big fat stuffed Breakfast Burrito stuffed with fresh fresh crunchy seasonal veggies. The burritos all come with two eggs and spud chunks and cheese all wrapped up tight ready to spill their goodness when you dig your knife and fork in. Scrambled eggs and bacon with potato chunks and toast for me please and yum! My littlest hot date is mad about smoothies at the moment and ordered himself a Lovely smoothie which was HUGE (20oz) and which I thought I would be sucking on for the rest of the day but dang...it was soooo good he finished it all before we got back in the car (ok, we took it to go as we went for a walk after). Am-a-zing!. I had asked them about smaller sizes but they only do one size for smoothies which is a pity because 20oz is pretty huge. Not a bad price for everything. I think everything we ordered (main dishes) was under $6. They also have a bit of a country store thing going on selling some natural food products and drinks and waters and with a bottle of uber fancy water my hot date choose, together with some little honey sticks, I reckon the check came to under $40. Parking out in front along the street. Take a little walk after to digest and to see the magician's store and the chocolate factory up the street a bit.

    On a visit to Daytona my seminar group went twice in one day and the food was great both days! It's an eclectic restaurant with a menu designed to appeal to carnivores and vegans. I enjoyed their Dave burger the first day and their grilled chicken quesadilla the 2nd day and both had great flavor and were cooked beautifully. We had a larger group so the service at lunch wasn't super fast but we all enjoyed the ambience and time to talk. We agreed that we'd be back every year when we come back to Daytona.

    Meh. Sat down ordered two sandwiches. 25 minutes later they came. Meanwhile others came, seated, ordered and got their meals. When we noted this the waiter says, Sorry. Tell the cashier, Sorry. Not enough. What a good company does with a kitchen screw up is offer to do something, free something. Lousy people.

    The ambiance is quaint and cute, the service is average, the menu looks great and they have cute little porches for sitting and eating outside. Unfortunately, the food is a bit underwhelming. It was not bad, but I was not impressed. It basically provided food so I was no longer hungry, but did little to tickle my taste buds. Its the kind of place you want open at 3 a.m. after you've been partying all night and just need food.

    Awesome! One of the few places to go where you don't get a "chemical meal", food made from real ingredients. The only exception I could find are the jellies on the table contain HFCS, but with a little diligence, you can pretty much eat naturally here.

    I've eaten at Dancing Avocado 3 or 4 times. Did not know it was vegetarian (or vegan) until just now when I looked at the reviews. Each time I've eaten either the firecracker shrimp or mahi quesadillas. Enjoyed them each time. This is one of those "health food" restaurants that is frequented mostly by women, but that won't stop me from coming back. I like the food and the atmosphere.

    I'm going to have to give the Dancing Avocado one less star this time around. Although our food came out extremely quick, it wasn't as hot as it could have been and wasn't cut and made easy to eat--my friend and I both ordered burritos. Mine was still very tasty but could have definitely been warmer. A few other notable items though that I hadn't seen before. Their prices are listed in fractions versus through decimals. For instance if your burger is $5.50 it is listed as 5 1/2. So their Arroz con Leche dessert is listed as 2 3/4 which I think is a neat change of pace. Also, if you bring your baby with you next time, fear not if you forget their diapers. Complimentary Pampers are located in the restroom. Good thinking on their part.

    It's not really Mexican food but more a California-Mex vibe. With an assortment of wraps, burgers and appetizers begging to be dipped in ranch sauce, it would probably be a mistake to categorize this place as a true Mexican restaurant. In reality it's more of a unique deli-esque establishment. Having been here a few times I have to say I like the hippy vibe and the cheap food. Some of the food items aren't as good as others, but the burgers and wraps are usually a safe bet. The hummus is really good too. Last time around we tried the chunk potatoes as a snack as we drank some beer. Despite the somewhat off putting name of "chunk" we charged ahead and were rewarded with potato slices that had been deep fried to crispy perfection. With some spices rolled on the outside and coupled with creamy ranch dressing these "chunks" really hit the spot. Our friend ordered a smoothie in addition to her beer and really wasn't impressed. I tried it and thought it was a little bland for a smoothie. While this was probably due to the all fruit and no sugar added recipe it was a little unexpected. People hoping to satisfy a sweet tooth might look elsewhere. If you want to try a place with a hippy, weird vibe, try this place right off the main street.

    Ew. Tiny portions, no flavors, no thought or detail or even attempt to make the food good. Just "here it is" for $8.00. If you're going to operate a joint and charge people for food, at least try.

    This restaurant is very vegetarian and can be quite pricey, a changeover. I ordered the shroom, a sautéed mushroom that came with a small amount of lettuce & tomatoes. This was served on paper tray with an aluminum foil sheet as a liner. When trying to cut the food chunks of foil got caught, not tasty at all. I did advise wait staff and check out cashier and they said they would tell the cook. Rather disappointing and I left hungry.

    Unique menu with lots of options, and a wide variety of stuff for the veggie crowd. Not being vegetarian I went with a Dave burger. It was cooked just the way i like it, and served with potato wedges and on this day a side of guacamole. The meal was marred by my toddler having a full scale meltdown. We truly appreciated the gesture the staff made by bringing out a fruit cup on the house for her. However not even fruit would calm her. Would come back for lunch anytime I'm in Daytona

    Food: The good: Their turkey chili was amazing! The bad: I went back and got the jerk chicken wrap which was only so-so. Cucumber slaw: so-so/yucky. The strawberry lemonade didn't taste all that great. Even with my blah 2nd meal experience, I still want to go back and try their vegetarian options (which sounded amazing). The wait staff was very very nice.

    We are vegan and had heard the Tofu scramble was really good. It wasn't. All the veggies were not fresh. It just wasn't good. Our server was awesome. If we lived here we would not come back for breakfast.

    I'm a vegan. My family is not. Quite the opposite actually. We all ate well and were happy with our meals. They make homemade passion fruit tea and strawberry lemonade - both were awesome. We started with the Yin Yang hummus which was absolutely delish and from here on out I will add hot sauce to my homemade version. My father and brother were not all that pleased with the spicy chips because they came out of a bag when they expected homemade (which is why I gave one less star). They have lots of vegan substitutions and put it all right on the menu so you don't feel bad asking for soy cheese. I had the Dancing Avocado Melt (with hummus because they were out of soy cheese - again with the one less star). My brother is the pickiest eater EVER (and I'm a *vegan*) and he certainly downed his mahi mahi quesadilla in record time. My dad, a burger and wings kind of guy, had a bean burrito and loved it. Our waitress was fantastic. It was a lovely experience in an area that is very un-veg friendly.

    The Avocado Kitchen is a Beach street staple and has been around for a long time, I've been a bunch and always enjoy what I get, most recently I ordered a vegetarian sandwich with tomatoes, avocado, and sprouts on whole grain bread, I personally added bacon to the sandwich sometimes you have to balance health with flavor. Fresh made juices and an awesome omnivore menu makes this place a hit that will stand the test of time.
